FAQ TEETH WHITENING

FAQS: FAQ

There are always questions to ask, here are a few of the most common.

What results can be expected?

This depends on each individual and the extent of discolouration. Generally, 5-14 shades lighter can be achieved in 1 session. The more stained your teeth are, the more dramatic the results will be.

Is it safe?

We offer the latest whitening gel approved for use in Australia. Our gel is gentle and safe, problems are extremely rare. Whitening is safe for crowns, veneers & filling although these will not whiten as much as natural teeth.

Should teeth whitening be done by a dentist?

Teeth whitening is purely cosmetic and non-dental. The products we use are gentler and just as effective as those used by a dentist. All our products are Australian compliant and produced to the highest standards. As for myself I have been a trained and working dental nurse for over a decade.

Is teeth whitening for everyone?

It is not recommended for children under the age of 16 or for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Its is not suitable for people who have gum disease or require dental work.

How long will whitening last?

Teeth will remain their fresh white appearance for around 12 months although results can change sooner than that depending on diet and lifestyle. Smoking, coffee, tea, fruit juice, soft drinks are all staining and prolonged exposure can affect the longevity of whitening.

Do I have to avoid anything after whitening?

We strongly recommend to avoid food and drink that are prone to staining for the first 24-48hrs immediately after treatment including the following:

Coffee                 Tea                      Chocolate            Juice                           Red Wine           Berries

Avoid contact with extremely hot or cold liquids. This temperature change causes teeth to expand and contract, allowing stains to penetrate the teeth. Try cutting down on these type of drinks (including coffee and tea) or try drinking them with a straw to reduce the amount of time they are in contact with your teeth.

Avoid foods and drink that are acidic. Acidic foods and beverages open up the pores of the tooth enamel allowing stains to easily penetrate your teeth. Again, use a straw to help minimize contact or cut down.

Cut back on drinking and smoking. Frequent consumption of alcoholic drinks and heavy smoking can reverse the effects of teeth whitening. Many alcoholic drinks such as wine have tannins that can stain teeth.
